Boys Brigade trip to Manchester Science Museum
By David

On Saturday 22nd November 2003 Junior Section went on a wonderful trip to Manchester Science Museum. We went by train. We met at North Train station and the train set off at 9:52am.There were 8 children and 3 officers and most of the parents went too. But they went shopping. We split into 2 groups of 4 my group was with with Mr. Stevenson. We had John, Alex, Kieran and David.
Firstly we went into the power museum and how things work like flushing the chain when you have been to the toilet. You could have a look inside a train from 1895.It also showed you another way how to get around in the 1900's.
Next we had a good look around at the space and air Museum. There were dummies but if you walked around a corner you would think they were real, well John and me did anyway. We had to dash it was lunch in about 5 minutes. We saw all the planes from birds eye view.We had a good time in there too.
Next we went for lunch in a lunch area and there were no rubbish no crumbs well we did when Jake was eating, lots of crumbs under the table. We were all talking where we went and what we did.
Next we went into a touch everything place like shake your invisible hand, have a go at putting seven triangles together to make a pyramid, Car races where you turn a handle. The one on the left always won because it had a smoother surface. The last one was make a cube out of 3d shapes.
Next we went to the ICT Suite just next door. You could go on the Internet and you don't have to pay. You could go on google or on the Dazzle, which is just like paint. That was probably the place what people liked the most.

Next we went to the cotton mill on how the Victorians work in the cotton mill. There was a boy or a girl who had a job to sweep up all the cotton under the machines. They have 10 seconds to sweep all of the cotton up off the floor. They could have had their hair cut have or a chopped off finger or even worse hand cut off. We had some samples.(of the cotton not the fingers etc)
Lastly we went to the place we had all been waiting for the gift shop. Jake bought a comic, Alex bought a magnet, and I bought a dancing hair creature and 2 sticks of rock and Alex bought a combat fighter jet.
Lastly we caught the train back to Blackpool north station. The problem was our reserved seats were being sat on. We had to stand up for at least 10 minutes and there was only 1 seat. Everybody said they had a great time but I think I was the most excited because I had never been on a train before.

A real day to Remember! Here are all the people who went on the trip:
Karl,Kieran ,John,Alex B,Alex,David
And these are all the Officers who had to put up with us all day:
Mr. K Stevenson,Mr. C Booth,Mrs. T Willis
Unfortunately Mr. Willis could not make it.

Thank you for coming.
